The salaries are competitive, the work has variety, and project managers are highly valued members of the business as they keep the workflow running smoothly (oftentimes behind-the-scenes). Ladies, there is a need in this industry, and it is filled with dynamic opportunities.

There are a lot of project managers in the information technology industry. If that is not your area of expertise, there are also project management roles in business, finance, communication, manufacturing, construction, marketing, product development, recruitment, education, and more. Essentially, any industry that has high scale operations and agendas to accomplish in a timely manner is likely going to have project management roles. It is worth researching job opportunities in different industries to see what would work best for you.

The variety of work presents great opportunities for growth and community across project management. The main skills required to be a project manager fit into three areas: technical, leadership, and strategic business capabilities. Since project management is all about concepts and strategy, it is helpful to grow those skills practically and then be able to transfer them into different industries or roles if need be.
